Great Expectations chapter 18 summary

Four Years pass in Pips life and the story continues on a Saturday night in where Joe, Mr. Wopsle and some other people who are listening to Mr. Wopsle make a judgement on a murder that was reported in the local newspaper. While Mr. Wopsle is speaking a stranger walks in and proceeds to publicly humiliate him in front of everyone, seemingly for his personal satisfaction. Chapter 17 summary Great Expectations

Pip starts of getting into a routine of apprentice life as a blacksmith under Joe. He also sees biddy as a “common” person,unlike Estella who Pip already was in Love with. Biddy and Pip confide with each over and Pip tells Biddy about Estella and, trying to be as impolite as possible she says Pip should stop pursuing her to which Pip admitted Biddy’s wiseness. Biddy and Pip stumble upon Orlick who both of them admit their dislike for him. Biddy and Pip then leaves and Pip goes over in his mind why he has picked Estella to love over Biddy
